What qualifications do you have in treating trauma and perinatal clients?

I have a masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and I am currently licensed and in good-standing with the AZ state board. I continue to meet or exceed annual trainings required by the board in ethical care, best standard practice, and cultural competency. I have over 12 years of supervised work experience within the behavioral and mental health field. Additionally, I have been trained in evidence-based practices for effectively treating trauma and the perinatal population. I successfully passed the Perinatal Mental Health Certification Exam, classifying me a specialist within this field. Lastly, I work hard to continually stay current in trauma and perinatal treatment modalities by engaging in monthly therapeutic consults and annual trainings.

How long is treatment?

Treatment length can vary significantly based on the presenting concerns and complexity of the trauma. However, treatment can typically range from 6 months to 2 years.

How involved should I be in the treatment process?

Blossom Counseling emphasizes person-centered care, using the client’s individual strengths and innate abilities to heal. Thus, client involvement is crucial to move through the healing journey successfully. Yet, support and gentle guidance will be provided during the entire process.

Parent and caregiver involvement plays a major role in a younger child’s treatment. As a child reaches adolescence, empowering them to take more ownership of their treatment is encouraged. Therefore, parents and caregivers are less involved at this stage.
